Packages and closures for packaging

PPWR Recyclability Grades A, B, C

A similar appearance does not necessarily mean the same rating… Under the PPWR, two seemingly similar packaging solutions may receive completely different recyclability classes.

PPWR grades A, B and C will indicate how well packaging has been designed with recycling in mind. From 2030, packaging will need to achieve at least class C to remain on the EU market, and from 2038, the minimum required level will be class B.

It is important to remember that the class does not apply to a single component, but to the packaging as a whole. This means that not only the bottle or closure matters, but also the label, colour, and decorative finishes.

An example? The dispenser itself may meet the requirements for class A. However, if the final packaging is coloured in a dark shade or enhanced with additional decorative elements, the assessment of the entire solution may already be different.

That is why one of the strongest trends currently observed in eco-design is the shift towards mono-material packaging.

A response to these challenges is the mono-material dispenser D 371-01, made entirely from a single material PP - without a metal spring or glass ball.
